Science 8: Thurs Sept 27th, 2012

Today we started Chapter 8 on Forces! A new homework package on Forces (8.1) was handed out and your homework for the weekend is to complete pages 112 and 114. Page 113 is optional.

THERE IS A QUIZ ON MONDAY!!! It will cover everything in Chapter 7. (In class I said it would cover Forces, but I have decided to remove that and only have the quiz on Chapter 7 since everyone wasn't in class today!)

We completed our worksheet on Will It Float! I hope everyone was able to get at least 5 items done during class time.

Science 8: Thurs, Sept 20th, 2012

Today was a review day! I hope everyone marked their homework sheets while we were completing them in class!

We also had binder checks today and I was very impressed with everyone's organized sections! By next week I will have a Science 8 binder available in the class in case you need to see where your handouts will go.

There is no homework today so have a relaxing evening!

Science 8: Tues Sept 18, 2012

Today we had a quick Binder Check...everyone should have their binder divided into the five sections that are listed in your outline for next class:

You should have these five sections in your binder:
-Notes
-Homework Packages
-Labs and Demos
-Assignments
-Handouts

We will be having Binder Checks throughout the year so keep yours up to date! I will have a sample binder at the front of the class in case you want to double check your organization.

Also, we completed notes on Phase Changes and Density today! We got a new Homework Package 7.2 and from that pages 106 and 108 are for homework.

Science 8: Fri Sept 14, 2012

We did our very first Science 8 Lab today! If you were away, here is a link to the Thermal Contraction Lab handout. I was impressed with everyone's cooperation and safe procedures during the lab. Great job!

We also completed page 3 of our Notes. Your homework is to complete page 102 of the Section 7.1 homework package and to think of an example of Thermal Contraction and Thermal Expansion to add to your notes!

Science 8: Wed Sept 12, 2012

Today we had our first Homework Check! Remember to bring your homework to class everyday because I might do anther check soon...!

We completed our first section of notes in Chapter 7 on Kinetic Molecular Theory. You should be able to complete pages 100 and 101 of the Section 7.1 Homework Package I handed out to you today. This should be complete for Friday.

Science 8: Mon Sept 10, 2012

Welcome to the Class Blog! Today we got our textbooks and completed the Scavenger Hunt on page xvii.

Next class we will be starting our first unit of the year, Unit 3 on Fluids and Dynamics! Be sure to complete your homework: answer questions #1-5 of the Reading Check on page 249 after reading pages 246-249 in the textbook.

Be sure to bring in your signed course outline form to me next class!
